Luca Andrea Ludovico

Short bio

After graduate studies in Computer Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan, in 2006 he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Milan and then remained at the Laboratory of Music Informatics, serving as researcher and assistant professor.

As an expert of music, multimedia and computer technologies, since 2003 he took part in digitization and exploitation projects of important Italian and international institutions, including Bach-Archiv Leipzig, Teatro alla Scala of Milan, Ricordi Historical Archive, RAI Phonology studio, and the Italian Music Network sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. He was a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computer Generated Music, making his contribution to the standardization of IEEE 1599, an XML-based that aims at the multi-layer and synchronized description of music. For his research and coordination activities, in 2008 he received an official award from the IEEE Computer Society.

Since 2007, Luca Andrea Ludovico is member of the Research Center for Cultural Heritage board of the University of Milan. He has authored about 100 scientific papers, addressing subjects such as multi-layer encoding of music information, formal description of music, computer-supported music education, and computer-based revivification of intangible cultural heritage.
